Being Brighton-based we’re obviously big fans of the city and it’s blossoming food scene. There have always been great places to eat in Brighton but of late, some real gems have landed, helping to generate a tangible excitement around eating in the city. The latest to cause a stir is the Salt Room, recently hailed by the Independent’s food critic Tracey Macleod as the best place she’s ever eaten in Brighton.
The Salt Room serves up modern British seafood and meat cooked over coals, from a sprawling 155-cover prime location on the seafront in the belly of the Hilton Metropole. It’s fair to say it’s an ambitious project but it seems to be hitting the mark with plenty of very happy diners passing through. And long may it continue, we say. Brighton has very few destination restaurants and the Salt Room has quietly taken up this challenge with grace and heaps of top-class cooking, tremendous cocktails and possibly the best private dinning room in town.
